A bit about acupuncture and what to expect during a treatment...
Acupuncture is a process that naturally improves health and wellbeing. By inserting thin, disposable needles into the surface of the skin, it is possible to repair muscle, tendon, ligament, and nerve pain, improve digestion, regulate breathing problems, adjust menstrual and reproductive imbalances, and reduce mental and physical problems, and much more.
What can you expect during a treatment?
Treatments begin with a brief update on how you are doing and any new concerns followed by tongue and pulse diagnosis, acupuncture that lasts 20-30 minutes and five minutes of bodywork. I often incorporate Gua Sha, a Chinese medicine technique with use of various stones such as tigers eye and citrine to release multiple layers of fascia, relieving pain, increasing circulation, decreasing inflammation and removing emotional blockages. This massage combines lymphatic drainage to the various lymph sites throughout the body for a comprehensive cleanse along with myofascial release. This is ideal for anyone with chronic or acute pain as well as those looking for a preventative maintenance routine. Many people alternate this with acupuncture for sports medicine/dry needling or traditional acupuncture. Half hour of body or energy work can be added on to any acupuncture treatment.
My style of practice and needling is gentle, intuitive and empathetic. I practice compassionate listening and connecting with my patients in a patient centered care approach, to help create a whole life or holistic plan for you, which means educating you how to take control of things as much as possible via breathing techniques, acupressure, lifestyle changes, diet changes and other therapies.
My specialties are emotional issues, pain and cosmetic facial acupuncture, which is a nonsurgical acupuncture facelift specifically designed to improve facial appearance by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, toning face muscles, and rejuvenating dull, lifeless, or aging skin. Visible results can be seen after the first treatment. Dramatic and long lasting changes generally occur with a series of sessions. Cosmetic facial acupuncture leaves you looking and feeling your best. The cosmetic facial acupuncture experience is a combination of facial cupping, facial gua sha, microcurrent, LED light therapy, and exfoliation.
Outside of the office, I am an animal mom and a nature lover that is a native daughter of southern California. My educational journey include a chronic debilitating personal illness that lead me to a path of healing, a Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Medicinal Herbology; Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Herbology; Bachelors in Holistic Medicine ; Associate studies in Abnormal Psychology; Facial Applications of Acupuncture specialist (facelift, TMJ, bells palsy); RYT Yoga Instructor ;LMT 2005; Cranial Sacral; Medical Qi Gong practitioner; Reiki 1 & 2 practitioner 2006.
